With OpenEngagement DMS you choose the implementation options that are best for your needs.

Choose a fully hosted solution or implement a local solution on your own. The choice is yours. Our expert support and training services are available for both options.

	Hosted Solution	Local Solution
Installation	Setup of Hosted Solutions is fast and easy. We can have you up and running in very little time.	Dependent on your time and technical expertise. OpenEngagement does provide an installer, which makes setup easy, but not nearly as effortless as with Hosted Solutions.
Secure Connections	Your content is protected through the use of password protected access controls and 128-bit SSL encryption.	You must make your own security provisions. The site is password protected as with Hosted Solutions, but firms must ensure access to the computer itself is restricted. SSL is not provided.
Uptime, Backups and Disaster Recovery	Your implementation is hosted on a server that is monitored 24/7 and we employ redundant systems to ensure you continuity of service. We provide regular data backups and, if necessary, data restorations.	You are responsible for ensuring your server's uptime and for executing data backups and restorations.
Upgrades and New Releases	We provide regular software upgrades for all of our hosted customers, so you use only the latest and best versions of OpenEngagement's software.	You must manage all downloads and upgrades as well as any associated data migrations.
History / Audit Trail	OpenEngagement maintains a complete history of actions performed with the DMS. The history is maintained on OpenEngagement's server and is therefore unmodifiable.	The DMS maintains a complete history as with Hosted Solutions. However, as OpenEngagement does not control the server, the history records could feasibly be altered.
Required Hardware	We provide full hosting on one of our servers. Firms need purchase no additional hardware.	You must provide your own dedicated server with large storage capacity.
Internet connectivity	Hosted Solutions require reliable Internet connections. OpenEngagement uses redundant servers and 24/7 hardware monitoring to ensure reliability.	As the DMS is hosted locally, reliable Internet connections are not necessarily required. Internal network connections, however, are necessary.
Email Notifications	Email notifications are optionally provided when documents become ready for review, complete review, are ready for archiving, and at other times.	The same email notifications are available as with Hosted Solutions, but the firm must have an email server and must configure the DMS to use the email server to send the notification emails.
Cost	A cost-effective annual subscription plan offers a convenient way to pay for our superior hosting and maintenance.	It's free to download OpenEngagement DMS software.
Best Fit	If you are ready for worry and maintenance-light document management solutions that can be deployed quickly and easily.	If you have IT resources whom you can dedicate to the installation and maintenance of OpenEngagement and its required equipment and IT infrastructure.
